This January Amazon made an announcement about its new initiative to provide high schools in New York with computer science classes. It will help the upcoming generation to prepare for their future for pursuing a career in coding. In this announcement Amazon also revealed about expanding its Future Engineer program that will cover more than 1000 high schools in the underserved, underrepresented and underprivileged communities, throughout all the 50 United States and District of Columbia.
The expectations are that there are going to be more than a million computer science jobs by the year 2020 and the number of qualified graduated to fill those seats are not going to be at par. Amazon is counted among the other tech companies that fund various initiatives over years to help support efforts for education in the STEM fields.
This curriculum will include tutorials, lessons, and a digital program for the students, and many more activities. The program is going to cover even live online support for the students as well as the teachers. Along with all the other facilities the students will receive free AWS Educate membership.
Amazon will re-open to submissions from students this fall, with the hope to receive a $10,000 scholarship to help fund an undergraduate computer science degree.
