Emanating so brightly from Chicago, IL, Yung Swerv was destined to be a game-changer. Spending his childhood in this environment has proved more beneficial than not for this young artist, as he was able to take his surroundings and learn from them rather than being a part of it. Through his tenacity, he was able to conquer every deterrent thrown in front of him. At a very young age, he realized his life’s purpose to become an artist that will change the world positively with the power inside of him. His biggest challenge was embracing himself, his power, and his potential. Understanding these aspects of himself, allowed him to unlock his true potential to create music that is true to who he really is. The process of full embrace has been a constant journey that he finds himself on.
Being the second oldest of seven, he also knew he wanted to do something to provide for his family but never knew what it would be. Until his sophomore year of high school, Swerv found a new love which was music. During the time Swerv was around friends who did music and he saw how much fun they and gave it a try and that’s where it all started. He released a slew of singles such as “Dreams” and “No Luck,” he laid the groundwork for what is now a successful rap career.
Amongst various chart-scorching records, Yung Swerv is the CEO of his own label Mudd Bruddaz Empires. “I trust in the Mudd before I trust these people,” says Yung Swerv.
Equal parts introspective and inspiring, the 19-year-old artist is very comfortable with the concept of openness. Through his gritty hip-hop, Yung Swerv showcases his approach to understanding and digesting life. “I really only feel like writing a song when I’m deeply inspired,” says Swerv. “Otherwise I seem to force things onto the page. That’s when I know I need to drop my pen.” Check out his latest visual effort below.
